Vornado asked River Film to make a film for its Chicago landmark, The Mart, to attract potential tenants and show the building’s transformation. As part of a major redevelopment, the focus has shifted toward office use while keeping the building’s role as a hub for creativity, commerce and innovation.
The Mart is a city within a city with its own zip code, where history meets the future. The challenge was to capture its energy, evolution and human connections.
The film uses a documentary style, with the people who live and work there telling the story. Designers, entrepreneurs and long-time tenants discuss its community, ongoing change and daily creative exchanges. The aim was authentic voices and enthusiasm for what comes next, not glossy marketing.
The redevelopment is designed around modern work life. The Mart is presented as a prime Chicago office destination with a dynamic workspace where ideas move freely from the first floor up to the offices above. As one tenant puts it: “People ask where my office is, and I just say: The Mart.”
River Film specialises in real estate films that bring landmark developments to life. This project showcased The Mart’s transformation, its active business community and its role as a leading commercial hub in Chicago.
